Do you ever just feel...stuck?
I once met an individual who had a peculiar saying for when she felt stuck. She often would make the statement "I'm jammed up like a big old copy machine." For most of us when dealing with a frustrating copy machine, steps we take are usually; stop, open all the drawers, check all the paper and push re-set. When paralleling to moments in life when we feel stuck or "jammed up" in our thoughts, we may find it helpful to develop a sequence of steps to aid us in sorting through our multitude of thoughts.
Here are a five tips to aid you when you're feeling "jammed up"
Practice Deep Breathing: Take slow, mindful breaths to help calm your mind and reduce stress.
Break Things Down: Divide overwhelming tasks into smaller, manageable steps to make them feel less daunting.
Take a Break: Give yourself permission to step away and do something you enjoy or find relaxing.
Connect with Someone: Talk to a trusted friend, family member, or mental health professional about how you're feeling.
Practice Self-Compassion: Be gentle with yourself—remember that everyone experiences tough times, and it's okay to not have all the answers right now.
How do you manage that feeling of being stuck, confused or uncertain? What sequence of steps could you practice that could allow for clearing the "jam"?
